Wk 4 Reading - Being the Board

"Being the Board" from the reading this week was fascinating to me. I have been raised with the thought that I take responsibility for my own actions. But the example used of the car accident was a different perspective. Yes, as drivers, we know accidents are going to happen. This was definitely a different way to think about this topic. I believe that taking responsibility for actions and being the board will help us to reflect on events more. Something happened and you can't change it. But being the board will allow for reflections. Instead of just blaming the other person, we can reflect on our own actions and learn from whatever happened.

At first it seems that being the board will make us responsible for every situation. Yet what it really allows for is critical thought. Instead of "flying off the handle" about situations we analyze them and learn. The author speaks much about living in this "world of measurement." This is something that we cannot escape, and yet we do not have to let it control our life. We can still learn to think critically, reflect, and learn from situations and pass on these habits to those around us.

I have enjoyed reading this book. It has been refreshing reading, as it is easy to work through, and yet it still causes me to analyze situations and think critically about what I am reading.
